Srinagar, April 10 -- People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti on Friday thanked Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for ordering a probe into the Ganderbal encounter case, while criticising the Omar Abdullah-led NC government for a "shameful lack of outreach" to the victim's family.
Speaking to reporters in Ganderbal, Iltija Mufti questioned the absence of top NC leaders, including the chief minister, from the deceased's family. She identified the victim as a PDP worker.
"He was an orphan. He was a good person and also a political worker, the brother of PDP," she said.
Welcoming the LG's directive for a probe with a week's deadline, Iltija Mufti asked why the chief minister, being the local MLA, had not visited the family.
