Srinagar, April 27 -- The Lieutenant Governor's Office in Ladakh on Monday announced the creation of five new districts-Nubra, Sham, Changthang, Zanskar and Drass-through a post on X.

As per the post, the notification for the new districts has been approved, taking the total number of districts in the Union Territory from two to seven.

The post stated that the decision addresses a long-pending demand of the people and aims to strengthen governance at the grassroots level.

It further mentioned that the move is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for Ladakh.
