Farooq Abdullah says friendship and respect can resolve India-Pakistan issues
Srinagar, May 14 -- Jammu and Kashmir National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah on Thursday expressed hope that the BRICS nations would play a role in ensuring peace in the Middle East and said dialogue between India and Pakistan was necessary to resolve issues.
Speaking at a public event here, Abdullah said he was glad that the BRICS grouping was meeting and hoped the bloc would "put pressure" for peace in the Middle East.
"I am glad that the American President is in China and I am sure China will also play its part because there is peace," he said.
Referring to recent remarks by the RSS chief and the Indian Army chief, Abdullah said even they had spoken about the need for India and Pakistan to work together for resolving problems.
