Srinagar, June 3 -- Amid a surge in post-Eid tourism, the Srinagar traffic police on Wednesday said the city's Boulevard Road has turned into a "square" during peak hours, causing major snarls.

"For the first time, we felt there was a lot of traffic during peak time. Our entire Boulevard has become a square," Traffic SSP Aijaz Ahmad Bhat said.

Speaking to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), the SSP traffic city said that heavy tourist vehicles from Gupkar to Pantha Chowk, coupled with locals opting for private cars for evening recreation, have led to unprecedented pressure on the thoroughfare.
