SRINAGAR, May 13 -- Former minister and ex-MLA Bandipora Usman Majid on Wednesday accused successive governments in Jammu and Kashmir of neglecting the displaced families of Kanyari village in Bandipora district, saying they have been left to suffer in "inhuman conditions" despite repeated promises of rehabilitation since 2014.

In a statement, Majid said successive political setups had only used the plight of Kanyari villagers for "statements and assurances" without taking any concrete steps for their rehabilitation.

"These families have been betrayed repeatedly. Every government promised rehabilitation and justice, but even after 12 years they continue to live in darkness, poverty and uncertainty," he said.
