Kupwara, April 11 -- Around 50 women associated with the Midday Meal Scheme staged a protest outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner in north Kashmir's Kupwara on Saturday, demanding a revision of their daily honorarium.
The protesters, affiliated with the Sukh Kupwara All Cook Association, are engaged in cooking meals under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. They raised objections over an honorarium of ?20 per day, calling it insufficient.
The women alleged that their work is often treated as voluntary service despite years of service, with little financial recognition from authorities. They urged the government to enhance their wages immediately.
