Srinagar, April 15 -- Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday rededicated the renovated War Memorial at the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre here, paying homage to the fallen soldiers of the only infantry regiment that began as a volunteer force.

The solemn ceremony was held on the 78th Raising Day of the JAK LI Regiment, which was raised in the aftermath of Partition to counter Pakistani invasion, bringing together volunteers across faiths and ethnicities united by the spirit of patriotism, officials said.

Addressing the gathering, Abdullah said the regiment embodies the resilience and patriotism of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
