New Delhi, April 18 -- The Government of India has approved a two per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees.

The revision will also lead to a rise in Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners.

The decision is part of the government's routine exercise to adjust salaries and pensions in line with changes in inflation, measured through the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW).

Officials said the revised rate will be applied as per schedule.Details on the effective date and payment of arrears, if applicable, will be issued separately.

The increase will affect central government employees and pensioners across the country.
