Srinagar, May 26 -- Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and Senior political leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Tuesday said the people of Jammu and Kashmir have no moral right to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha unless the perpetrators of the brutal gang-rape and murder of a minor girl in Budgam's Goolwan Pora area are given exemplary punishment.

In a statement issued to KNS, "After such a heart-wrenching tragedy, do we even have a moral right to celebrate the joys of Eid?" Azad asked in an emotional message to the nation on the occasion of Eid.

Extending Eid greetings to all countrymen in general and the people of Jammu and Kashmir in particular, Azad recalled the innocent girl who was brutally raped and murdered by a "beastly, inhuman savage".
