Srinagar, May 18 -- Ahsan Pardesi on Sunday welcomed the approval of a Rs 361-crore Integrated Solid Waste Management Project at Achan, saying the initiative would strengthen Srinagar's waste management system and help reduce pollution in the city.

In a statement, the Lal Chowk MLA congratulated Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for sanctioning the project, which will have a processing capacity of 800 tonnes per day.

Pardesi termed the project a "landmark initiative" for Srinagar and said it would play a key role in modernising waste collection, segregation and eco-friendly disposal systems in the city.
