Sopore, April 9 -- Police in north Kashmir's Sopore claimed to have apprehended three persons and recovered contraband substances in two separate operations in this north Kashmir town.

A police officer told News Agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) that during naka checking at Hadipora in the Rafiabad area, a suspicious individual was intercepted, and upon search, a poppy straw-like substance was recovered from his possession, he said.

The accused has been identified as Qamar Ali, son of Mohammad Ali Bhat, a resident of Chanderkote in the Ramban district, he said.

A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha, the official said.
