Srinagar, April 25 -- Police in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir registered 24 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in a single day as part of an intensified crackdown against narcotics, officials said.
An official told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) the cases were registered against alleged narcotic cultivators and peddlers during multiple operations carried out across the district. Large consignments of contraband were seized and several persons were arrested.
Separately, police destroyed illegal poppy cultivation spread over 10 marlas of land and registered five FIRs in different parts of the district on Thursday.
