Jammu, April 28 -- A day after the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court quashed his detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA), Doda East MLA Mehraj Din Malik on Tuesday alleged that "humanity is being ruined in the name of religion" and raised the issue of unemployment, claiming political power was being used to suppress common people.

Speaking to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) after his release, MLA Malik said, "But some people fight in the name of religion. Whether they are Hindus or Muslims, they don't believe in religion. If there is a religion, then learn to walk on it. And no religion says that humanity should be ruined."
