Shabbir Hussain Khan, a resident of the downtown area, began his journey in 1980 when a friend required an emergency transfusion at SMHS Hospital. It was during this episode that Khan discovered he had the rare O-negative blood group, which makes him a universal donor. "I started with my friend's need.
