RAJOURI, Sept. 14 -- Two minor sisters died after a suspected snake bite in Manma Barmari village of Kalakote subdivision in Rajouri district, officials said on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Amiba, 5, and Amiza, 3.

According to local sources, the sisters were sleeping in a room with other family members when a snake allegedly climbed onto the bed and bit them during the night.

Family members reportedly noticed the snake and raised an alarm, following which the children were rushed for medical treatment. However, both succumbed before they could be saved, officials said.
