Jammu, April 6 -- Traffic Police in Jammu and Kashmir have launched an intensified enforcement drive against the illegal use of pressure horns and other unauthorised sound devices in vehicles across the Union Territory.
According to an official handout, the drive has been initiated at the direction of the Inspector General of Traffic Police, J&K.
Traffic Police said the Supreme Court, in its order dated December 10, 2013, had banned the use of all types of pressure horns.
Officials said the use of such horns is an offence under Section 190(2) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and may attract a fine of up to Rs 10,000 and imprisonment of up to six months.
