Baramula, April 19 -- A daily wager employee of Power Development Department (PDD) died after suffering massive electric shock while carrying out repair work in north Kashmir's Binner Baramulla on Sunday, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, son of Mohammad Sultan Sheikh and a resident of Binner area of the district. He was part of a maintenance team engaged in routine repair of the electricity network when the incident took place.

Officials said that the employee received a severe electric shock during the course of work, leaving him critically injured. He was immediately shifted to Government Medical College Baramulla for treatment. However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.
