Baramulla, April 19 -- A daily wager working with the Power Development Department died after suffering an electric shock while carrying out repair work in the Binner area of Baramulla on Sunday, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, son of Mohammad Sultan Sheikh and a resident of Binner.
Officials said he was part of a maintenance team engaged in routine repair of the electricity network when he came in contact with a live wire and received a severe electric shock.
He was immediately shifted to Government Medical College Baramulla, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The incident has raised concerns over safety measures during high-risk electrical work.
