Srinagar, Oct. 6 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Home Department has designated 12 sheds at Pantha Chowk on the outskirts of Srinagar as a temporary holding centre for illegal migrants pending verification and deportation.
The notification, issued on September 30, empowers the facility to restrict the movement of and provide temporary accommodation to persons classified as illegal migrants under the relevant provisions of law.
According to the notification, issued under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, and related directives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Lieutenant Governor has notified the sheds as a temporary holding centre/camp for migrants detected by law enforcement agencies.
