Srinagar, Aug. 18 -- Education plays a central role in shaping the intellectual, scientific and social development of a nation. Recognising the changing demands of the twenty-first century, the Government of India introduced the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with the objective of transforming the country's education system into one that is more holistic, flexible, multidisciplinary, skill-oriented and research-driven. The policy seeks to move education away from rote memorisation and towards conceptual understanding, critical thinking, creativity, practical learning and innovation.
