Srinagar, Aug. 29 -- National Conference General Secretary and Khanyar MLA Ali Mohammad Sagar on Saturday said repeated attempts to weaken the party had failed because of its longstanding connection with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a party meeting at the National Conference headquarters, Nawa-e-Subha, Sagar said the NC's political strength stemmed from public support and its historical association with the region's political movements.

According to a party statement, Sagar described the National Conference as a political movement rooted in the struggles and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and claimed that efforts to undermine the party had not succeeded.
