Srinagar, May 17 -- Jammu Kashmir Lok Bhavan on Saturday celebrated the Statehood Day of Sikkim in Srinagar.

The event witnessed participation of students, security personnel and people from Sikkim residing in the Union Territory.

Addressing the gathering, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha extended greetings to the people of Sikkim on the occasion.

Describing Sikkim as the sacred land of Guru Padmasambhava, the Lieutenant Governor said the Himalayan state is globally recognised as a model of organic farming, peace and spirituality.

He said Sikkim's linguistic diversity and rich cultural heritage distinguish it on the world stage.
