Srinagar, July 22 -- When rivers rise overnight and families vanish under debris, the question is not only about nature's fury but about our preparedness. The flash floods in Rajouri and Poonch have left twenty three dead, eight missing, and hundreds displaced. Vehicles, homes, shops, and livestock were swept away in minutes. This was not an isolated calamity; it was a collapse of planning, accountability, and respect for geography.
Cloudbursts in the upper reaches triggered torrents that destroyed Surankote villages, breached protection walls in Rajouri, and submerged slum settlements near Abdullah Bridge.
