KULGAM, May 11 -- In a significant step towards strengthening sanitation infrastructure and sustainable waste management, the Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant (FSTP) at Liroo in Kulgam district was made operational on Sunday after the successful completion of its first trial run, making Kulgam the first district in the Union Territory to have such a facility in the rural sector.
Officials said the initiative marks a major milestone in improving sanitation services, public health standards and environmental protection in rural areas.
