SRINAGAR, Sept. 29 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Committee (JKPCC) has inspected 517 stone-crusher units across the Union Territory since January 2025 and issued 229 legal notices and 146 closure directions for violations of environmental regulations, the Legislative Assembly was informed on Tuesday.

Replying to a question raised by MLA Ajaz Ahmad Jan, Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment Javed Ahmed Rana said the enforcement action was taken against units found violating pollution-control norms and statutory requirements.
