SRINAGAR, Aug. 8 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Government has notified the Jammu and Kashmir Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2026, introducing a series of reforms aimed at simplifying regulatory compliance for businesses while strengthening consumer protection.

According to officials, the new rules replace licences for manufacturers, dealers and repairers of weights and measures with registration certificates and abolish the requirement for their renewal. The mandatory pre-registration inspection has also been dispensed with.
