Bandipora, July 31 -- Heavy rainfall on Friday triggered flash flood-like conditions in Doudwan area of Saderkoot Bala in Bandipora district, affecting roads and a government school in Malpora.

Officials and local residents said a nearby stream overflowed due to continuous rain, bringing mud, silt, stones and other debris into residential areas.

The debris blocked drains and covered the interior road at Malpora, disrupting traffic. A portion of the Bandipora-Srinagar road was also affected but was later cleared.

Government Primary School, Ganie Mohalla, Malpora, was among the worst-hit public buildings. Mud and debris entered the school compound and several classrooms, damaging classroom mats and other educational material.
