Jammu, Aug. 7 -- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday dismissed the police case registered against PDP leader Iltija Mufti, alleging that the episode appeared to be a "fixed match" aimed at restoring the political credibility of the People's Democratic Party.

Responding to questions from reporters, Omar claimed that the PDP had historically benefited from what he described as the support of "agencies" whenever its public standing declined.

"This looks like a fixed match to revive the credibility of the PDP. Whenever the party loses credibility, efforts are made to create such drama to bring it back into the political discourse," he said.
