Srinagar, April 14 -- Sopore Police on Tuesday said it had arrested eight persons for allegedly disrupting a student protest at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Sopore and creating law and order disturbances in the area.
According to a police press note, the arrests were made during a series of overnight raids carried out after authorities found that several "miscreants" had infiltrated what was otherwise a peaceful protest by students.
Police said the accused allegedly attempted to exploit the situation by instigating unrest and engaging in unlawful activities, including vandalism that resulted in damage to public property.
