Leh, March 20 -- A comprehensive cleanliness and urban improvement drive has been launched in Leh city on the directions of Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, to transform it into a clean, organised and tourist-friendly destination.

Officials said the initiative has been taken up in mission mode, with government agencies launching large-scale operations to remove accumulated dust as well as construction and demolition waste lying along roadsides in key parts of the city.

The first phase of the drive is focused on prominent areas, including Lok Niwas, the Secretariat, Leh Main Market, Jivetsal and adjoining localities.
