Srinagar, Sept. 14 -- Senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Sunday said the Union government is set to announce a "respectable" salary hike for Special Police Officers (SPOs) in Jammu and Kashmir, with the J&K government's proposal already submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Addressing a press conference here, Sunil Sharma as per Kashmir News Service (KNS) said the BJP-led Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah has consistently worked for the welfare of SPOs and Village Defence Guards (VDGs), and that the pending salary revision is at an advanced stage.
