Srinagar, July 17 -- Former Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Thursday visited the residence of National Conference (NC) leader and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's uncle, Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, to offer condolences to the bereaved family.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has invited the Mirwaiz to join the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

After almost three decades, the Mirwaiz and Abdullah families appear to have come closer. In 1987, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, led by Dr Farooq Abdullah, entered into an electoral understanding with the Awami Action Committee (AAC), headed by the late Mirwaiz Mohammad Farooq.
