Srinagar, April 19 -- Police arrested five drug peddlers in multiple operations in Anantnag and Sopore, and recovered a "significant quantity" of contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Saturday.

He said at Chatergul Chowk in Anantnag, one kg of cannabis powder and 100 grams of cannabis balls were recovered from one Farooq Ahmad Khan of Poshnari, who is a government employee working in Vailoo court.

Police said 2.590 kgs of crushed cannabis-like substance (Bhang Bhoosa) was recovered during a raid at the residence of Salman Saleem Rather of Diyaroo.
