Joint Statement by the Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Initiative (NPDI) ahead of the Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT)

TOKYO, April 10 -- Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan issued the following news release:

The Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Initiative (NPDI), a cross-regional group of non-nuclear-weapon States, released a Joint Statement ahead of the 11th Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) on April 13, 2026. This joint statement is intended to increase momentum towards the 11th NPT Review Conference and calls upon all NPT States parties to engage in dialogue and cooperation with a forward-looking approach, even amid a challenging international security environment, in order to maintain and strengthen the Treaty.
