TOKYO, April 9 -- Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan issued the following news release:
On April 9, commencing at 4:50 p.m. for 20 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a telephone call with H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman.
At the outset, Minister MOTEGI stated that Japan welcomes the recent announcement by both the United States and Iran as a positive development. He also stated that what matters most is that de-escalation, including the safety of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, is steadily achieved, and expressed his hopes that a final agreement will be reached promptly through diplomatic means.
