
Mumbai, Oct. 2 -- An electrical and electronics engineering graduate, Pathak joined POWERGRID in 1993 as part of its first batch of executive trainees.
Akhilesh Pathak assumed charge as Director of Projects at Power Grid Corp. of India Ltd. (POWERGRID), the state-run transmission utility, on September 30.
An electrical and electronics engineering graduate, Pathak joined POWERGRID in 1993 as part of its first batch of executive trainees. He has also completed the Harvard ManageMentor Programme conducted by Harvard Business School.
With over 32 years of experience in the power sector, Pathak has led transmission system planning, project execution, project management, business development and strategic infrastructure development. He has held several leadership positions in POWERGRID and has extensive expertise in the development, execution, monitoring and commissioning of extra-high voltage (EHV) transmission lines and substations.
During his tenure in the Project Management Department, Pathak played a key role in achieving the company's highest-ever capex utilisation, alongside one of the highest asset capitalisation levels and transmission line additions measured in circuit kilometres (CKM). He was instrumental in resolving critical project implementation issues through stakeholder coordination and strategic monitoring.
Pathak successfully led the Arun-3 Transmission Project in Nepal, overcoming cross-border, regulatory and geographical challenges. He also contributed significantly to POWERGRID's business development function by expanding consultancy services in domestic and international markets, supporting revenue growth initiatives.
Before he was appointed Director (Projects), he served as Executive Director of Project Management.
