Mumbai, Oct. 24 -- The entry of a third scheduled carrier on the Visakhapatnam-Delhi route marks a significant boost to one of the city's busiest domestic air corridors.

GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Ltd (GVIAL), the GMR Aero-led consortium that developed and operates the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, has announced the introduction of Akasa Air's daily direct service between Visakhapatnam and Delhi from October 25.

The new service is expected to strengthen connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and the national capital, expanding travel options for passengers and supporting growing demand for air travel from the region. The next-generation Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport, a greenfield international airport serving Visakhapatnam and surrounding districts, was inaugurated on August 1, 2026.

Kanwarbir Singh Kalra, CEO, GVIAL, said, "Expanding airline partnerships and enhancing access to key destinations remain central to our vision of developing Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport as a leading gateway that supports mobility, tourism, trade, and economic growth. The addition of this service will provide passengers with greater choice, increased flexibility, and enhanced travel convenience."

The introduction of Akasa Air's daily direct service marks a significant enhancement to one of Visakhapatnam's busiest domestic routes. With Akasa Air becoming the third major Indian scheduled carrier after IndiGo and Air India to operate non-stop flights between Visakhapatnam and Delhi, passengers are expected to benefit from higher seat capacity, greater schedule flexibility and increased fare competition.

Under the new schedule, Akasa Air flight QP 1842 will depart Delhi at 5:55 am and arrive in Visakhapatnam at 8:20 am, while flight QP 1843 will depart Visakhapatnam at 9:05 am and reach Delhi at 11:30 am. Both services will operate daily.
