Lesotho, June 17 -- When people discuss the industries driving Lesotho's economy, they usually mention textiles, mining, and agriculture. Rarely does anyone mention fun. Yet every football match, music festival, horse-riding event, car show, and weekend outing generates income for businesses, workers, and communities.
As Lesotho seeks new ways to diversify its economy, recreation and entertainment are increasingly proving that leisure can be more than just enjoyment, it can be a serious business.
According to Tsebo Matsasa, the Tourism Development Enthusiast, recreation and entertainment have become important economic drivers because they attract visitors throughout the year and reduce dependence on seasonal tourism.
