Lesotho, Sept. 23 -- The Southern African Alcohol Policy Alliance (SAAPA) Lesotho has intensified its push for an evidence-based national alcohol policy during its second gathering held at Khubetsoana, aimed at addressing the growing impact of alcohol use in hotspot areas, including Lithoteng, Ha-Matala and Khubetsoana.

The gathering followed the first meeting held at Ha-Matala and a case study conducted in Lithoteng to gather evidence for an alcohol policy. The findings revealed that young people living in these hotspot areas, which are surrounded by alcohol outlets and clubs, are increasingly vulnerable to gender-based violence (GBV), road accidents and other crimes.
