Lesotho, Sept. 9 -- The recent attack and abduction of Newsday Online Editor and human rights defender Kananelo Boloetse has raised fresh concerns over the safety of media practitioners and the protection of press freedom in Lesotho.

This was revealed during a visit by the Minister of Information, Communication, Science, Technology and Innovation, Hon. Nthati Moorosi, to Newsday Online on September 7.

The minister's visit followed the reported abduction of Boloetse, who is also a human rights defender and Section 2 Chairperson. He was allegedly abducted from his home in Katlehong on Saturday, September 5, by three men who assaulted him before abandoning him in the Thaba-Bosiu area.
