World Elephant Day highlights the ecological and cultural importance of elephants. India hosts nearly 60% of the world's wild Asian elephant population and has strengthened conservation through Project Elephant, Elephant Reserves and protected corridors. Scientific monitoring, technology-driven conservation and community participation further support coexistence between people and elephants.
