Soil is a strategic national resource that supports agricultural productivity, food security, and rural livelihoods in India. National initiatives are promoting scientific soil management through soil testing, balanced nutrient use, and climate-resilient farming practices. The Soil Health Card Scheme has generated over 25.89 crore cards, supporting informed nutrient management. The National Mission on Natural Farming has expanded to 18,786 clusters covering 8.80 lakh hectares. Public outreach efforts, including the Khet Bachao Abhiyan, are encouraging wider adoption of sustainable practices.
