Gond Painting of Madhya Pradesh has since received a Geographical Indication (GI) tag from the Geographical Indications Registry under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India-a formal recognition of the art form's unique regional origin and a legal shield protecting the traditional knowledge of its practitioners.[2]
