The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India has taken suomotu cognizance of a media report that a woman died and sixteen others were injured in a ropeway accident while returning from the Khallari Mata Temple in the Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh on 22nd March 2026. Reportedly, the rope wire suddenly broke and the trolley carrying the devotees fell down.
The Commission has observed that the contents of the news report, if true, raise serious issues of violation of human rights of the victims.
