The Central Government has taken comprehensive measures to strengthen the care, rehabilitation and social reintegration of persons engaged in begging through the Support for Marginalized Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise (SMILE) - Comprehensive Rehabilitation of Persons Engaged in the Act of Begging (SMILE-Beggary) Scheme.
This information was provided by the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri B.L. Verma, in a written reply to Dr. M P Abdussamad Samdani in the Lok Sabha.
