Formation of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)

India, Aug. 7 -- The Government of India has issued a release:

10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) have been formed under the Central Sector Scheme for Formation and Promotion of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).

1,175 FPOs have been set up under the scheme with 100% women members. Of the total shareholders across FPOs, about 40% are women. The scheme mandates that the Board of Directors or the Governing Body in each FPO should have minimum one woman member.

FPOs formed are operational and are engaged in activities such as input supply, aggregation, procurement, value addition and marketing of agricultural produce. 9865 FPOs have taken Management cost, 8357 FPOs have taken Equity Grant and 3140 FPOs have taken Credit ...
