The Union Government enacted the Dam Safety Act, 2021, which came into effect on 30th December 2021. The Act provides a comprehensive framework for surveillance, inspection, operation, and maintenance of specified dams across the country, ensuring their safe functioning and minimizing the risk of dam-related disasters.
