The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Labour and Employment to increase the wage threshold for mandatory coverage under the Employees ' Provident Fund Organisation ( EPFO ) from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 per month . This decision is expected to bring over 51 lakh additional workers under EPFO coverage , thereby significantly expanding the social security coverage for workers .
The EPFO salary limit remained unchanged for the decade from 2004 to 2014 , and was raised to Rs.15,000 in September 2014. The current decision to raise the salary limit to Rs.25,000 furthers this v...
