ALIGARH, Nov. 8 -- ALIGARH : Women's College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), celebrated its College Day with great enthusiasm and cultural splendour on the evening of November 7, commemorating the historic laying of the foundation stone of Abdullah Hall, the first girls' hostel of AMU on November 7, 1911, by Begum Sultan Jahan, Nawab of Bhopal.

The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Humaira Afridi, who recalled the pioneering vision of Sheikh Abdullah and his wife, Ala Bi. She highlighted their remarkable contribution to women's education at a time when opportunities for women were scarce, emphasising that the day stands as a celebration of their enduring legacy of empowerment and progress.
