ALIGARH, Aug. 8 -- ALIGARH : Prof Syed Sirajuddin Ajmali, Department of Urdu, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has been appointed Chairman of the department for a period of three years with effect from August 10, 2026.
Prof Ajmali is an acclaimed teacher, scholar and noted Urdu poet. He completed his B.A. from the University of Kanpur and M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Urdu from the University of Delhi. Before joining AMU as Lecturer in 1997, he served as Guest Faculty at Zakir Husain PG Evening College, University of Delhi.
